Upper Dolpo

Upper Dolpo is Nepal's one of the isolated, unexplored but naturally enriched regions surrounded by Dhaulagiri and Tibet from South and North. Before 1989 this region was not open for the foreigners. It was declared as open for a limited number of trekkers only in 1989. For trekking to this region requires a special permit from the immigration department of the government. As this region lies on the north side of Himalaya, it is a rain shadow area and the climatic situation of this place is the same as Mustang.

Blue sheep, leopards and other interesting Himalayan animals are still found in the region. While trekking, you will cross over some high passes and find rare flora and fauna with natural beauty all around. Trekking to Upper Dolpo is suitable for those who are exceptionally fit and prepared to face full challenges of the Himalayan wilderness and we need to be well-organized with all camping infrastructure.
