TIhar (also known as Deepawali in terai region of Nepal) is celebrated by Hindu & Buddhists of Nepal. It is another great festival in Nepal which comes soon after Dashain. It is celebrated for five days… The main specialty of this festival is that on this day, Goddess Laxmi ( The goddess of wealth ) is worshipped & along with that, brothers are also worshipped for their prosperity & long life. The name ‘TIhar’ means the festival of lights in which many candles are lit both inside & outside of the housed to make the whole area sparkle with light at night.

The spotlight of this festival is that it symbolizes how we adore living beings ie animals.

  • Day 1(Arrival to Kathmandu)
    Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by Red Carpet Tours and Travels representative and transferred to hotel. After check in, in the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion, introducing with your Tour guide. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions related to the tour program. You can either take a rest or hang around in the city depending on your interest and time constraint. If you like, you can enjoy with some drinks & can enjoy the evening by flying kites which is the main specialty of this festival;.
  • Day 2(Observation of worship of crow & sightseeing in Kathmandu .)
    The first day of the festival is called Kag Tihar or Kag Puja. Today after breakfast,you will observe how people worship the crows by offerings sweets and dishes on the roof of the houses. It is said that the cawing of the crows symbolizes sadness and grief in the Hindu mythology, so the devotees offer the crows food to avert grief and deaths in their homes. Generally speaking, it is said that Tihar in Nepal and Diwali in India represent the divine attachment between Human and other animals and birds in our nature. We worship crow before having our meal. We feed the crow during this day as god. To strengthen the worship of nature, all these rituals are introduced in Hinduism.  Then after lunch, we start a guided sightseeing to historical and spiritual sites in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites that include the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Bauddha Nath Temple.
  • Day 3(Observation of worship of dogs & sightseeing at Kathmandu)
    The second day is called Kukur Tihar or Kukur Puja. On this day, you will observe how Nepalese worship the dogs. If you like, you can also be the part of our Nepalese society & worship the dogs as well. Dogs are termed to be messenger of Lord Yamaraj, the God of death in Nepalese culture. People offer garlands and delicious food to the dogs, and acknowledge the cherished relationship between humans and the dogs.  Then after that, in the evening, you will be taken to the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) & Dashinkali Temple of Kathmandu for sightseeing.Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 4(Observation of worship of Goddess Laxmi.)
    After breakfast , you will be taken to one of the house of Nepalese, where you will get a chance to observe how  the cow is worshipped on this day. The cow is termed to be the sign of prosperity & wealth in Nepalese society. Hence on this day, people show their gratefulness to the cow by garlanding & feeding the cow with the best grass. Houses are cleaned. Doorways & windows are decorated with beautiful flowers (mostly marigold & chrysanthemums is preferred). Then, in the evening goddess Laxmi, the goddess of wealth is thanked for all the benefits that were bestowed on the families by lighting oil lamps or candles on doorways and windows to welcome prosperity & well being. And at night, peoples especially young boys & girls enjoy dancing & visiting all the houses of the village with many musical instruments & singing a song called Deusi/Bhailo all night long. They collect money from all the houses by singing and dancing & share the sweets & money amongst themselves. In the evening, you can also take part on this celebration by being one of the members of the group & can sing & dance along with the group if you like. Over night at hotel.
  • Day 5(Observation of Worship of Oxen & Self)
    After breakfast, you will be observe how the oxen are worshiped on this day as they till lands and help grow crops to sustain life. And in Newari culture, on the night of this day "worship of self" is done. After that you will be taken to Bhantapur Durbar Square for sightseeing activities Then after that you will be taken to Patan Durbar Square.After that, you will be taken to Nagarkot where you will be able to see the beautiful view of sunset in evening  You can take part in the deusi or bhailo as well. Or else, you can enjoy the night time by lighting the candles which are place all around the house from ground floor to top floor of the house. It is done with an expectation that goddess Laxmi ( the lord of wealth) will be delighted with our home decoration & we would be blessed by her.Overnight stay at Nagarkot.
  • Day 6(Observation of worship of Brother & drive to Pokhara)
    Early in the morning, you will view the beautiful sunrise from Nagarkot. After breakfast, you will be able to observe how the brother is worshipped for their long life. On this final day of Tihar (also known as Bhai Tika Day), sisters give tika (a colored powder placed on one’s forehead), and mala (garland of flowers or also known as flower leis, similar to that's used elsewhere like in Hawaii!) to brothers along with wishes for long life and prosperity. After exploring the whole traditions of Nepalese, you will definitely would like to spend some days in a  peaceful area Hence after that, you will depart for Pokhara(by driving) & overnight at hotel.
  • Day 7(Full day Pokhara Sightseeing)
    Hence for that, early in the morning, you will be proceed for drive to Pokhara .we will explore some time for the lunch enroute . After you reached to pokhara, explore some time for refreshment and visit the most beautiful Fewa lake and enjoy some time over there for boating and visiting Talbarahi temple O/N at hotel. (Around 6 hrs drive) After breakfast visit sarankot for sunrise view and enjoy paragliding if you wish .After that proceed for sightseeing of beautiful pokhara valley (Includes Devi’s fall which is very dangerous with some mystery , then after visit Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave it is very interesting with lots of mystery., Seti river gorge, Vindhiyavasini temple) evening at leisure for visit to the market and personal shopping etc. O/N at Hotel.
  • Day 8(Drive to Chitwan)
     After breakfast drive (5 hrs drive) from pokhara to Chitwan explore some time for lunch on the way. Transfer to the lodge take some time for refreshments and briefing about the Program and the lodge facilities. After that visit the natural History & flora & fauna of the national park .Dinner and O/N stay at the lodge.
  • Day 9(Drive back to Kathmandu )
    After breakfast, half day jungle activities including Nature walk, Elephant Safari, Bird watching, Program etc. After lunch drive back to Kathmandu. O/N at hotel.
  • Day 10(Final departure or in option we offer you for Mountain flight if you wish.)
    Early in the morning after breakfast if you wish to have an adventure acitivities,then you can have a mountain flight in the morning.Or else you can enjoy roaming in the street of Thamel & can have a personal shopping in between as well. Then our airport representative will make a departure transfer to the Kathmandu airport to board international flight for your onward destination. You will depart from Kathmandu to your hometown with mind full of beautiful memories. NOTE: We will customize the itinerary as per the requirement of the customer other than the above.
