Ghorepani is a village in Myagdi District in the Dhawalagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal. It was opened on 1977 for trekkers. The Ghorepani- Poon Hill Trek offers you to the most spectacular mountain scenery from the popular view point of Poon Hill.

Poon Hill Ghorepani trek continues to Deurali. It serves as the vantage point offering you with an unmatched panoramic mountain views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Lamjung, Fishtail and Manaslu Mountains. The trail descendsfrom the hill to Ghorepani (2855m). Thirty minutes of hiking will take you to Poonhill which is the popular hill station near Pokhara. Poonhill offers spectacular sunrise view over Annapurna Mountain. It is also known for the unmatched close-up views of Dhaulagiri I Mountain (8167m), Annapurna South (7219m),Tukche peak (6920m), Annapurna I (8091m),Nilgiri (6940m),Hiunchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal and Manaslu Mountain. Poonhill can be easily accessed from Pokhara by following couple of days of easy trekking.
How to reach Poonhill?
5hrs of driving along Prithvi Highway will take you to Pokhara. Crossing Lumle and other villages, the paved road stretches over 42km fromPokharato Nayapul which is the starting point of Poonhill trekking. Route passes through the Gurung and Magarsettlements providing you with an ample opportunities of viewing culture and lifestyle of these ethnic groups. After brief walk along Modi River, you will arrive at Tikhedhunga from where you will cross Birethanti. Climbing 3300 stone steps, you will reach Ulleri. Passing through teahouses, you will reach Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, the path stretches to Poonhill before lowering down to Ghandruk. You can visit Gurung culture museum or ACAP visitor’s center while enjoying homestay in Ghandruk. From Ghandruk, you will retrace the route back to Nayapul. Ghorepani Poonhill itinerary does not require any acclimatization day and it can be done in mere 5 days.
